Happy Memorial Day

Tried taking kids to a Memorial Day parade today. We were supposed to ride bikes, decorate them and walk the parade. But they slept too late (not sure who keeps their kids out til 11pm) so we drove, had to pay for street parking and caught the end of the parade. Luckily we made it for all the military speeches, roll calls of the dead and shooting of the canon. But all this was lost on the kids who spent the hour pulling on my shirt, telling me how thirsty they were and general complaining. Peri even managed to stick her flag tip up my bum. On purpose. Bad parenting took them to 7-11 for slurped after. Mostly because I wanted one too. 

Why the Blackhawks Lost Last Night

Right before the end of the second period, we heard a thump, bump and cry. Hawks were winning. Found Peri at the bottom of the stairs all bumped up. Took her upstairs to get her cleaned up. Kings tied the game. All of our hawks shirts were in the wash, so we told Chris to wear Peri's Blackhawks necklace. Peri was still grumpy from the fall and refused to let Chris wear it. "Well, guess the hawks are going to lose tonight." I agreed with Nick. And they did :(
