Serious

A conversation between Nick and Grammy...

N: Grammy - this is really serious
G: Oh, what?
N: I'm full of dinner but have just enough ro0m for a little dessert
G: Whatever Nick wants (not what she really said, but how their adorable relationship works)

Wiiiiiiiii

When playing Wii, were constantly telling Nick stand back from the tv, dont get too close to the other player, etc. We found a game where we can both play at the same time. Teamwork! So imagine his shock when I whacked him on the side of his head at full force last night while playing FlingSmash. The look on his face was priceless. Until he burst into uncontrollable sobbing. Hugs wouldnt fix his hurt head and feelings. Then I got the look from Chris as we came upstairs that said What the heck did you do to that kid? Its really hard to silently mouth I whacked him in the head with my controller. Really hard. But not as hard as hes reacting right now. But pretty hard. Teamwork hurts.

One night later, Nick hits Peri in the head and said "Uh oh, I'm in trouble now".

April Fools

Ok, ok, so it's taking me a while to post...

I was so excited for April Fool's Day this year. I had all sorts of jokes prepped to play on Nick. The night before I filled his backpack with Peri's dolls and purses. Then I took a bowl of cheerios and milk and put them in the freezer. The next morning when he asked for his cereal I handed him the frozen bowl and a spoon. But instead of digging in like he was supposed to, he snottily said "I didn't want milk!" Grrrrrr. I tried one more joke on him that almost brought him to tears. My day of pranks ended before it barely began. I need to find someone with a better sense of humor to play my jokes on next year.

Dora!

Peri's swim diapers for the water park last week had Dora on them. "Doda! Doda!" My god, she's got a girl crush. Can't stop talking about "Doda!"

You'll go blind

Nick was getting his pjs on and mentioned that his privates were sticking straight out. He asked me why. I asked him if he had been playing with his privates and he said yes. I told him that that usually happens when you play with your privates. But he should go ask Dad more about it since he has one and I don't.

I happily listened at the top of the stairs as this conversation took place:

N: "Dad, why does my willy stand straight out? Mom said it can happen if I play with it."
C: stall. stall. "You mean instead of just hanging down?"
N: "Yes"
C: stall. stall. "That's a very good question."

Being the nice person that I am, I then came downstairs to try to save Chris and to keep Nick from forever wondering why his privates are sticking straight out.

Skiing!

Nick went skiing for the first time! One of his old school buddies (we're talking back to preschool! Nick is the second from the left) went a few weeks ago to a local mountain (drive all of 50 minutes to Wisconsin and turns out there's a little hill!) and took lessons. $40 got you lessons, rental and lift ticket for the day. So we got the old boys group together and met in WI. Coop's mom and I decided to take snowboarding lessons while the boys took their lesson. $200 later we were on our way. Sigh.

Our 17 year old instructor tried his best but I still spent too much time on my knees and a$$. After our lessons I headed over to watch Nick. Rock star! He was so good! But when he saw me he realized he could whine a bit and stop lessons. There were only 15 minutes left so I thought no big deal. We took his skis off, sat down and watched the other kids. Til the other kids went up the chair lift and down the real mountain with the teachers. Nick was beside himself that he missed that part and we couldn't get his skis on fast enough to get him over there.

I figured if they were taking the kids over there that Nick was ready too. So we skiid on the bunny hill for a while and then tried the chair lift and big hill. Nick rocked! So solid! So later when he wanted to go down the "medium" beginner hill I thought "why not?" Well I found out why not half way down. Nick stopped and decided he wanted to go on the old hill. Uh, not happening since we're already half way down this one. I had traded my snowboard in for skis by this point, so I put him in between my legs and skiid with him holding onto my poles in front of us. Bad plan because we crashed. He lost a ski. I slid down the hill backwards as I called out "I'm coming bud!" All under the chairlift for their enjoyment. I worked my way back up to help him, but by that time ski patrol decided to come by. "Mam, this hill is a little big for the little ones." "I know, but he wanted to try it and I thought it would be ok." "Has he been skiing all day? The little ones get tired about now." "Yes, yes, it's our last run of the day and thought we'd try this one."

We still had fun. Season is over, but we'll be back next year. I don't know if I'll be on that snowboard again.
