First Swim Lesson

We went to a friend's house for a bbq Memorial Day weekend. We hung on their deck while Nick and his friend tossed a ball into the pool. His friend (who can swim) was slowly working his way into the chilly water. Then his dad came and pushed him in. We all had a laugh at his expense. Nick had his pants rolled up, but still had his socks/shoes on. Not sure what he thought he was doing. At some point, there was talk of pushing folks into the pool and his friend didn't take Chris's "push Nick in!" the right way and pushed Nick in! We all just stood there in disbelief. Nick popped his head up but hasn't a clue how to swim. Poor little guy was so scared. Chris used his long arms to reach out but couldn't get him. I finally said in a panicked voice "Get him!" and Chris jumped in to save our little guy. The two of them just stood in the chilly water for a while until we could get them towels. Nick came out and heaved a little. Chris came out looking like he was wearing skinny jeans. They drove home to get changed, but decided to call it a night. I asked Nick if he wanted to talk to his friend and he gave very short, but decisive "No's". Poor little friend got carted home and couldn't come out the rest of the night. Chris told Nick we'd sign him up for swim lessons pronto. Nick told him that mom was already on it and then said "That was a crazy first lesson!" Ha! All was forgiven the next day.
