Once Nick came along, we became frequent fliers and ditched our usual love of road tripping. Just figured flying was faster. And we weren't sure if 6-8 hours in a car seat was torture (for kids or parents).Well, C got a new car and decided after five yrs, we were ready! Our niece and nephew were celebrating their first communion in Minneapolis, so we decided to brave the 400 miles and drive. Grammy and PJ were driving up on Thursday and offered to take Nick so that he could have more time with his cousins. Nice! Notice - they took the 3 foot chocolate Easter bunny with them!
They left early Thursday morning. Sat in traffic until they got near O'Hare and Nick asked "Are we almost there?" Grammy gently explained they'd only gone eight miles. About an hour past O'Hare Nick asked "When are we going to get to the airport?" Turns out he thought they were flying. Ooops. 385 miles to go!Chris and I popped Peri into the car Friday night at 7pm and headed out. Bedtime is 7:15, so she was out while we talked for 3 hours straight. The most uninterrupted time we've spent talking in five years! Stopped at a hotel with a pool and wished Nick was with us. Slept with Peri in a huge king sized bed and kept worrying she was going to get lost in it or behind it. Then woke up the next morning for 3 more hours in the car. Peri once again slept the entire time.
Sunday afternoon found us back in the car for 6 hours straight and two kids. Turns out they are both rockstars on road trips. North Carolina - here we come!

Nolens limit is a 3 hour car ride to Amelia. I was trying to figure out a way to get my boob in his mouth while still in the car seat ;)
PS..LOVE the new car!
